Dive In for a Good Cause: The 8th Annual Lechlade Lions Charity Swim

Join us at the stunning Bowmoor Lake for the eighth annual Lechlade Lions Charity Open Water Swim on Saturday, 1st August 2026.

Once again, we are thrilled to have Olympic medallist Cassie Patten hosting the event. Cassie will be on hand throughout the day to provide free, expert coaching tips and techniques for swimmers of all abilities.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is driven by a singular, ambitious mission: to find a cure for dementia.

As the UK’s leading dementia research charity, the organisation focuses on three strategic pillars - treatment, diagnosis, and prevention - to revolutionise how we approach the diseases that cause dementia.

Last year was a record-breaker, raising over £4,000 with 140 swimmers traveling from across the country to take part. Highlights included Lucy Blacker’s incredible 3k performance, where she achieved a clean sweep as the fastest overall, female, and under-18 swimmer with a time of 48 minutes and 23 seconds.

Whether you are looking to challenge your personal best or simply enjoy a taster session, there is something for everyone at one of the finest private lakes in the Cotswolds, hosted kindly by the Bowmoor Sailing Club.

Event Schedule

• 08:00 AM: Athlete check-in opens.

• 09:00 AM: 3k Competitive Race.

• 10:30 AM: 1k, 2k, and 3k Challenge events.

• Throughout the day: 250m Taster Sessions for beginners & Cassie’s expert coaching clinics.

• 02:00 PM: Event concludes.

Registration & Participation

Limited Spaces: Capacity is capped at 140 swimmers. Please register early to secure your spot.

Deadline: Registration closes at 6:00 PM on 30th July. Please note: No registrations will be accepted on the day of the event.

Age Requirements: Open to ages 12 and up. Swimmers under 18 must provide a signed parental consent form.

Spectators Welcome

Bring your friends and family along to cheer you on! Entry for spectators is free, and there is plenty of complimentary parking. Stay after your swim to enjoy on-site catering and join our participants, volunteers, and supporters for a relaxing lunch and social gathering.
