The Lions Auction has become a major event in the local calendar. We have now been

running it for 30 years and have raised £50,000 for our charities during that time.

In principle there are three simple steps:

People give us items for the auction throughout the year

 We store them

In the spring we fill Lechlade Village Hall with them and auction them

In reality it is much more fun (?) than that.  During  the year we collect items for the auction, the event is so well known that people just call us when they have anything that may be suitable.   We take anything in reasonable condition which think will sell.   Beds, soft furnishing without fire certificates, white goods and clothing usually are difficult items so we may sometimes have to say no.    All this gets stored in barns lent by local farmers.  They are real Aladdin's caves of furniture, household and garden effects.  Although  they are primarily destined for the auction we do have the ability to give items to people in emergencies.

On the Thursday  before the big day (always a Saturday)  we start the great move.  Some 350 to 400 items get assembled in the  hall and are put into lots.  The hall fills with bric-a-brac, furniture, electrical goods and numerous other items   Outside is everything from garden tools to sunloungers.

If you are moving house or have just replaced something we may well be able take it off your hands.

Remember if you have bulky items that we can't sell then Cotswold or West Oxfordshire District Councils may be able to collect them for a small fee.  If you are unable to move the items outside for them then we can probably provide the muscle!

Usually we get rather a lot of bric-a-Brac item such as jewelry, pottery and other small items. When we have accumulated enough  of these we run a small table top sales to make more room. It always raises extra funds and you may even find a bargain if you attend!
